Drama & Theatre

Drama is a wonderful tool for exploring ideas and building groups. If you would like to explore using drama in your organisation, or would like to bring creativity into your training, please get in touch.

As a drama teacher I nurtured my students in their creative journeys. One particular specialism is creating devised work. I have a profound interest in Theatre-in-Education. This has included producing a peer to peer performance about sexual health and wellbeing for teenaged girls, working with Women and Theatre in Birmingham.

Current work

Currently my play, Coffee and Cakes: Return to Ravensbruck is going to be produced by Stockbridge Amateur Drama Society for a rehearsed reading. It is a thought-provoking take on women in war, showing stories of survival and loss, and how community arises out of desperate circumstances. It is written for five actors: four female, one male, and all portray a number of characters.

This play has grown from a 10-minute version that was shared in February 2019 at The Nuffield Theatre, Southampton. I have been very fortunate in having support from several organisations on this creative journey, including the Salisbury Fringe and MAST, Southampton. The next step will be a full-scale production, and publication.

Previous productions

In September 2022 for the Salisbury Fringe Festival at Salisbury Museum I had two short plays performed, The Letter and Her Own Words, inspired by Thomas Hardy and his relationship with women.
